Lyrics to Viva Colonia, an Oktoberfest song you can sing your heart out to

You might be asking yourself why a song toasting a northern German city is sung in a staunchly proud southern Stadt like Munich.

But Viva Colonia (Long Live Cologne) has such a rip-roaring tune the Bavarians just had to have a piece of it - although the title cry is often transformed to Viva Bavaria!

viva-colonia Cologne band De Höhner recorded the song in 2003 and landed themselves a national hit. The song's about about loving life and civic pride for the city of Cologne and gets played a lot at Karneval time.

Since it's sung in the Cologne dialect of Kölsch the chorus was all I was game enough to translate for this one. The video features Karneval shenanigans.
